Lysaght Employees (Port Kembla) Credit Union Ltd first AGM was held on the 28th June 1967 at the Illawarra Masters Builders Club Wollongong.Lysaght Members Of The Past

The Credit Union was formed when the workers of the time felt there was a need for an alternative financial institution to cater for their needs.

At the first meeting Mr. E.M. Carr then chairman thanked the workers who assisted with the setup of the Credit Union including Mr. D. Lindsay, Mr. D. Townsend, and shareholders. The Chairman introduced Mr. F. Waring as the first full time secretary. The assets at the first A.G.M. were $193,821 with 1136 shareholder members.

Lysaght Members Of The PastDuring the following years the Credit Union has grown to have assets now over $50,000,000.The Credit Union has maintained a strong relationship with its member base in the 30 plus years since the first AGM. To maintain the strong link between the Credit Union and its members successive Credit Union Board of Directors and staff has maintained its status as an industrial based Credit Union. The Credit Union maintains a strong presence at Bluescope Steel with offices at the Springhill site. We also have opened an office in the Wollongong CBD to cater for the changing needs of our membership.

 

The Credit Union has written into its constitution the following objects:

  • To promote co-operative enterprise.
  • To further the interests of members and the communities within which they work and live through co-operation.

Our members are our Credit Union.
